What thoughts you have tonight, Syd Bar-
-rett, why you floated up the downbeats over the fans
with a self-noxious trail-wake to the Dark Side of the Moon.
Your spine, achy fatigue, tries shaking off images
Your head a neon fruit supermarket, creaming of
brill, Apples, Oranges!
What Pipers and what Mallombras! Whole cit-
-ies shrieking in delight! Saucerful of Secrets! Dives
in the King's Road, babies in the Soho!-- and you,
John Lennon, what were you doing in the
front row?

I saw you, Syd Barrett, childlike, lonely young
tripper, hiding among the beats, social experimenter
"Happenings", electric toys.
I heard you making fantasies with each: Who killed
Arnold Layne? What price acid? Are you my
Angel?
I wandered in and out of the deviant tracks of
songs swallowing you, and swallowed with fascination
POW R. TOC H., infective.

We passeed through distant metaphors together in
our hallucinatory fancy. Tasting art chokes, detesting every
frozen celibacy, and shyly caressing "Golden Hair".

What were you seeing, Syd Barrett? The doors of
perception close in six hours. Which way does your mind bend
tonight?

(I touch your song and dream of your mastery in
Chapter twenty-four and feel abjured.)
Will you fly tonight across dromedary sheets?
The trees stab sun with shade, lights out in your houses,
what made you so lonely?
Will you wake screaming from the lost identity of love
past pink amplifiers in studios, home to your mother's
cottage?
Ah dear roger, nobeard, lonely old courage-
teacher, what identity did you have when the madcap quit
paying his ferry and you fell out on a smoking bank
and sat watching the boat disappear on the Dark
Side of the Moon.

I discovered Pink Floyds music at an early age. I can remember my sister and i siging the whole wall album from memory, begining to end while on camping trips or just haning out. I discoverd Syd Barrett's solo music when i was about 16 yrs old and absolutly LOVED it. My sister and i were very sad to hear about his death at the young age of 60.
Pink floyds music has made a major imapct on my life. The music they made will last forever!
